- 3 large onions, thinly sliced
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup shredded cheese
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C.
- In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper until just mixed.
- Shape the mixture into evenly sized meatballs.
- Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat and add sliced onions. Cook slowly until golden and caramelized.
- Add beef broth and thyme to the skillet and stir.
- Brown the meatballs separately, then add them to the onion sauce.
- Simmer until meatballs are fully cooked and sauce slightly thickens.
- Transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Bake until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve hot and enjoy.
