Description

Creamy garlic orzo paired with tender pan seared salmon in a rich parmesan sauce with fresh lemon and parsley. This comforting one pan dinner feels elegant while staying easy enough for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
  • 1 1/2 cups orzo pasta
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Season the salmon fillets with salt, black pepper, and paprika.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Sear the salmon for 4 to 5 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt the butter and sauté the garlic for 1 minute until fragrant.
  5. Add the orzo and stir for 1 minute to lightly toast it.
  6. Pour in the chicken broth and simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the orzo becomes tender.
  7. Reduce the heat and stir in the heavy cream and parmesan cheese until smooth and creamy.
  8. Add the lemon juice and chopped parsley.
  9. Return the salmon to the skillet and spoon the creamy sauce over the top.
  10. Serve warm with extra parmesan and parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use freshly grated parmesan for the smoothest sauce texture.
  • Add a splash of broth while reheating leftovers to keep the sauce creamy.
  • Fresh lemon juice brightens the richness of the dish beautifully.
  • Spinach or mushrooms can be added for extra flavor and texture.
