Creamy deviled eggs with a bold Cajun twist, topped with crispy golden fried shrimp for the perfect balance of flavor and texture.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 large eggs
  • 12 medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1/3 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat until ready for frying.
  2. Boil eggs until fully cooked, cool them, peel, and slice in half. Remove yolks and place in a bowl.
  3. Mix egg yolks with mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Cajun seasoning, paprika, garlic powder, lemon juice, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  4. Place flour and cornstarch in one bowl and buttermilk in another to create a dredging station.
  5. Dip shrimp in buttermilk, then coat thoroughly in the flour and cornstarch mixture.
  6. Fry shrimp in hot oil for 2 to 3 minutes until golden and crispy, then remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  8. Top each filled egg with one fried shrimp and sprinkle with fresh parsley.
  9. Serve immediately while shrimp is crisp.

Notes

  • Let eggs cool completely before peeling for smoother results.
  • Fry shrimp in small batches to keep them crispy.
  • Adjust Cajun seasoning to control spice level.
  • Best served fresh, but can be refrigerated for up to 2 days.
