Description

Soft, fluffy donuts filled with sweet and airy whipped cream for a decadent treat that’s perfect with coffee or as a special dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • Whipped Cream Filling: 1 cup heavy cream, 2 tbsp powdered sugar, 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix warm milk, yeast, and 1 tbsp sugar. Let it sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, combine flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Add melted butter, egg, and yeast mixture. Knead until a soft dough forms.
  3. Cover and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut out donut shapes using a round cutter.
  5. Place donuts on a baking sheet, cover, and let rise for 30 minutes.
  6. Heat oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C). Fry donuts 1–2 minutes per side until golden. Drain on paper towels.
  7. Whip the cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until stiff peaks form.
  8. Once donuts are cool, pipe the whipped cream into the center of each donut using a pastry bag with a nozzle.
  9. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the mixing bowl and whisk for faster whipped cream preparation.
  • Use chocolate whipped cream for a variation.
  • Donuts are best eaten the same day they’re made.
