Grilled watermelon steak with smoky seasoning and a balsamic glaze, finished with fresh herbs and optional crushed nuts for a juicy, savory twist on summer fruit.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 medium Seedless Watermelon: cut into 1.5-inch thick round slices
- 2 tablespoons Olive Oil: brushed on both sides for caramelization
- 1 teaspoon Salt: enhances sweetness and balances flavor
- 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper: adds subtle heat
- 1/2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika: gives a smoky, savory depth
- 2 tablespoons Balsamic Glaze: drizzled for tangy finish
- Fresh Mint or Basil: a few leaves for garnish and aroma
- 2 tablespoons Crushed Pistachios or Walnuts: optional for crunch
Instructions
- Preheat your grill or grill pan over medium-high heat.
- In a small bowl, combine olive oil, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika.
- Brush the grill grates or pan with a little oil to prevent sticking.
- Brush both sides of each watermelon slice with the oil mixture.
- Grill each slice for 3–5 minutes per side, until grill marks form and surface caramelizes.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze, and garnish with herbs and optional nuts.
- Let rest for a few minutes before serving warm.
Notes
- Use a cast iron pan indoors for best grill marks.
- Thick slices hold up better on the grill.
- Prep ahead and store slices in the fridge up to 1 day before grilling.
- Try a drizzle of tahini for a creamy twist.
