Description

Warm and Sweet Blackberry Cobbler is a classic Southern-style dessert featuring juicy blackberries baked beneath a soft, buttery, golden crust. It’s easy to make, incredibly comforting, and best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
  • 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, toss blackberries with 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice. Set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  4. Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined to form a batter.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon blackberry mixture evenly over the top—do not stir.
  6. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.

Notes

  • Fresh blackberries are best, but frozen work well—do not thaw before using.
  • Adjust sugar based on sweetness of your berries.
  • Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for extra flavor.
