Description
Warm and Sweet Blackberry Cobbler is a classic Southern-style dessert featuring juicy blackberries baked beneath a soft, buttery, golden crust. It’s easy to make, incredibly comforting, and best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar (divided)
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- Optional: vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, toss blackberries with 1/2 cup sugar and lemon juice. Set aside.
- In another bowl, mix flour, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk and melted butter to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined to form a batter.
- Pour batter into the prepared baking dish. Spoon blackberry mixture evenly over the top—do not stir.
- Bake for 45–50 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
Notes
- Fresh blackberries are best, but frozen work well—do not thaw before using.
- Adjust sugar based on sweetness of your berries.
- Add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter for extra flavor.
