- 1 loaf French or Italian bread, halved lengthwise
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Italian blend cheese
- 1–2 medium tomatoes, thinly sliced or diced
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional: Balsamic glaze for drizzling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic, salt, and pepper.
- Spread garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of the bread.
- Top with sliced or diced tomatoes, shredded cheese, and chopped basil.
- Place on baking sheet and bake for 10–12 minutes, or until cheese is melted and edges are golden.
- Optional: Broil for 1–2 minutes for a crispier top.
- Drizzle with balsamic glaze if desired, slice, and serve warm.
