Description

Tiramisu Cake is a decadent layered dessert that transforms the classic Italian tiramisu into a soft, moist cake filled with espresso-soaked layers, mascarpone cream, and a dusting of cocoa powder.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Cake:
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For the Coffee Syrup:
  • 1/2 cup strong brewed espresso or coffee
  • 2 tablespoons coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • For the Mascarpone Filling:
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 8 oz mascarpone cheese, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • For Dusting:
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another large bowl, beat eggs and sugar until light and fluffy. Add milk, oil, and vanilla extract, then gradually mix in dry ingredients.
  4. Divide batter between pans and bake for 20–25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. In a small bowl, mix brewed espresso, sugar, and coffee liqueur (if using) until sugar dissolves. Set aside.
  6. For the filling, beat mascarpone, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks, then gently fold into the mascarpone mixture.
  7. Slice each cake layer in half horizontally for four layers total. Place one layer on a serving plate, brush generously with coffee syrup, and spread mascarpone filling on top.
  8. Repeat layering with syrup and filling until all layers are stacked. Frost top and sides with remaining mascarpone cream.
  9. Dust top with cocoa powder. Chill for at least 4 hours before serving for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use decaf coffee for a caffeine-free version.
  • Chilling overnight enhances flavor and structure.
  • Add a layer of shaved chocolate or chocolate chips for texture.
