- 8 oz semi-sweet chocolate, chopped or chips
- 2/3 cup granulated sugar
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- Optional: Flaky sea salt for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl, melt butter and chocolate together until smooth. Let cool slightly.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until pale and fluffy, about 1–2 minutes.
- Stir in the melted chocolate mixture until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
- Spoon about 1/2 teaspoon of peanut butter on top of each cookie, then use a toothpick or knife to gently swirl it into the dough.
- Sprinkle with flaky sea salt if desired.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the edges are set but centers are still soft.
- Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
- Use natural or no-stir peanut butter for best consistency when swirling.
- For extra peanut flavor, add peanut butter chips to the dough.
- Cookies will appear soft right out of the oven but will firm up as they cool.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for longer storage.
