Description

A flaky, golden pastry filled with sweet cream cheese and fresh strawberries, these Strawberry Danishes are perfect for breakfast or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp water
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix cream cheese, granulated sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  3. Unfold puff pastry and cut into 4–6 squares.
  4. Score a border around each square and prick the centers with a fork.
  5. Spread cream cheese mixture in the center of each square, leaving the borders clear.
  6. Top with sliced strawberries.
  7. Beat the egg with water and brush the edges of the pastry.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
  9. Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Use chilled puff pastry for best results.
  • Substitute strawberries with raspberries, blueberries, or jam.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.
