Description

Spiced Pumpkin Butter is a rich, velvety spread made with pumpkin puree, warm spices, and a hint of sweetness. Perfect for slathering on toast, pancakes, or stirring into oatmeal, it’s a cozy fall favorite that’s easy to make and store.


Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree (or 2 cups homemade puree)
  • 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, apple juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  3. Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for 20–30 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until thickened and glossy.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Let cool completely before transferring to jars or airtight containers.
  6. Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Notes

  • Adjust spices to taste — add more cinnamon for warmth or more ginger for a zingy kick.
  • Use a nonstick saucepan to prevent burning as the mixture thickens.
  • Delicious as a topping for toast, yogurt, pancakes, or even ice cream.
  • Not recommended for canning due to low acidity — store in the fridge or freeze for longer storage.
