Description
Spiced Pumpkin Butter is a rich, velvety spread made with pumpkin puree, warm spices, and a hint of sweetness. Perfect for slathering on toast, pancakes, or stirring into oatmeal, it’s a cozy fall favorite that’s easy to make and store.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree (or 2 cups homemade puree)
- 1/2 cup apple juice or apple cider
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp ground ginger
- 1/4 tsp ground cloves
- 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a medium saucepan, combine the pumpkin puree, apple juice, brown sugar, maple syrup, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, nutmeg, and salt.
- Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
- Reduce heat to low and cook uncovered for 20–30 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking, until thickened and glossy.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Let cool completely before transferring to jars or airtight containers.
- Store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Adjust spices to taste — add more cinnamon for warmth or more ginger for a zingy kick.
- Use a nonstick saucepan to prevent burning as the mixture thickens.
- Delicious as a topping for toast, yogurt, pancakes, or even ice cream.
- Not recommended for canning due to low acidity — store in the fridge or freeze for longer storage.
