Description

Smashed Chicken Gyoza with Kimchi & Rice combines crispy, pan-fried chicken dumplings smashed to create a crunchy texture, served alongside tangy kimchi and steamed rice for a flavorful and satisfying meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 chicken gyoza (dumplings)
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 cup kimchi, chopped
  • 2 cups cooked steamed rice
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • Sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add chicken gyoza in a single layer and cook for 2–3 minutes until bottoms are golden.
  3. Add 1/4 cup water to the pan and cover immediately. Steam for 5 minutes.
  4. Remove lid and press each gyoza gently with a spatula to flatten and crisp up the bottoms further. Cook uncovered for another 2–3 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix chopped kimchi with soy sauce and sesame oil.
  6. Serve smashed gyoza over steamed rice, topped with kimchi mixture, green onions, and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • Use store-bought or homemade chicken gyoza for convenience.
  • Adjust kimchi quantity based on spice preference.
  • Serve with extra soy sauce or chili oil if desired.
