Description
Rose Simple Syrup is a fragrant and floral sweetener made with dried rose petals or rose water. It’s perfect for adding a delicate twist to cocktails, teas, desserts, and more.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup dried edible rose petals (or 1 tablespoon rose water)
- Optional: a few drops of pink or red food coloring for hue
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine water and sugar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add dried rose petals (or rose water if using instead) and simmer gently for 5–10 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let steep for 15–30 minutes for a stronger flavor.
- Strain out the petals using a fine mesh sieve. If using rose water, no straining is needed.
- Stir in food coloring if desired, then let the syrup cool completely.
- Transfer to a clean glass jar or bottle and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
Notes
- Use culinary-grade dried rose petals to ensure safety and quality.
- For a quicker version, use rose water instead of petals.
- Delicious in lattes, lemonade, cakes, or cocktails like gin or vodka spritzers.
