Description
The Poblano Popper Burger is a bold, spicy twist on a classic cheeseburger—featuring flame-roasted poblano peppers, crispy bacon, and a creamy jalapeño cheese spread. It’s rich, smoky, and bursting with flavor.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend recommended)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 slices cheddar or pepper jack cheese
- 2 medium poblano peppers, roasted and peeled
- 4 slices cooked bacon
- 4 burger buns, toasted
- For the jalapeño cheese spread:
- 4 oz (115g) cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 fresh jalapeño, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- Salt to taste
- Lettuce, tomato, and red onion (optional, for topping)
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix all ingredients for the jalapeño cheese spread until smooth. Set aside or refrigerate until ready to use.
- Season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into 4 equal burger patties.
- Grill or pan-fry the patties over medium-high heat for 3–4 minutes per side, or until desired doneness. Add cheese slices during the last minute to melt.
- Roast poblano peppers over open flame or under a broiler until charred. Peel, seed, and slice into strips.
- Toast burger buns lightly. Spread jalapeño cheese spread on the bottom bun.
- Top with burger patty, poblano strips, bacon, and any desired toppings like lettuce, tomato, or onion.
- Close with top bun and serve immediately.
Notes
- For extra heat, leave some seeds in the poblano or jalapeño.
- You can substitute turkey or veggie patties for a lighter option.
- Prep the cheese spread a day ahead for even better flavor.
- Use pickled jalapeños for a tangier twist.
