Description

Pickled Frog Balls are a unique and tangy delicacy featuring tender frog meat marinated in a flavorful vinegar-based pickling solution. This adventurous snack combines savory, sour, and slightly spicy notes, perfect for those seeking bold flavors.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb frog legs or frog meat, cut into bite-sized balls
  • 1 cup white vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cloves garlic, sliced
  • 1 small onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon black peppercorns
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)

Instructions

  1. Blanch frog balls in boiling water for 2–3 minutes until just cooked. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, sugar, salt, garlic, onion, peppercorns, bay leaf, and red pepper flakes. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and let the pickling liquid cool slightly.
  4. Place frog balls in a sterilized jar and pour the warm pickling liquid over them, making sure they are fully submerged.
  5. Seal the jar and refrigerate for at least 24 hours before serving to allow flavors to develop.
  6. Serve chilled as a tangy appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • Ensure frog meat is fresh and properly cleaned before use.
  • Adjust sugar and spice levels to your taste.
  • Pickled frog balls can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
