A rich, creamy, and comforting Mac and Cheese made Panera-style — perfect for a warm meal at home!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound small pasta shells
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 1/2 cups milk
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups sharp white cheddar, shredded
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter.
  3. Add flour and whisk for 1-2 minutes to form a roux.
  4. Slowly add milk and heavy cream, stirring constantly until smooth.
  5. Bring mixture to a gentle boil and then lower the heat and add the cheddar, mustard, salt, and pepper.
  6. Remove from heat once cheese is melted and sauce is creamy.
  7. Add the cooked pasta into the sauce and fold together until well combined.
  8. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes
