Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound sirloin or flank steak, sliced into strips
- 1 cup uncooked long grain rice
- 1 cup honey BBQ sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 whole garlic cloves
- 1 medium yellow onion
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
Instructions
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat until evenly warm.
- In a small bowl, mix the honey BBQ sauce and honey until smooth, then set aside.
- Add olive oil and butter to the skillet and let the butter melt gently.
- Add the steak strips and sear until browned on all sides, then remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add the onion and garlic cloves and cook until fragrant and softened.
- Stir in the uncooked rice and toast lightly for about one minute.
- Pour in the beef broth, salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika, then bring to a gentle simmer.
- Cook until the rice is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed.
- Stir in the heavy cream and the honey BBQ mixture until creamy.
- Return the steak to the skillet and simmer gently until everything is well coated and heated through.
- Remove from heat and let rest briefly before serving.
Notes
- Slice the steak against the grain for the most tender texture.
- Keep the heat low after adding the cream to prevent curdling.
- Add a splash of beef broth when reheating leftovers to restore creaminess.
