Description
A timeless and refreshing drink, this old fashioned lemonade is made with fresh lemons, sugar, and water — just the way grandma used to make it.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 4–6 lemons)
- 3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar (to taste)
- 4 cups cold water
- Ice cubes, for serving
- Lemon slices and fresh mint, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar is fully dissolved to make a simple syrup. Let cool.
- In a large pitcher, combine lemon juice and the simple syrup. Stir well.
- Add the remaining 3 cups of cold water. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness as desired.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill.
- Serve over ice with lemon slices and mint, if using.
Notes
- Roll lemons on the counter before juicing to get the most juice.
- Add sparkling water instead of still water for a fizzy version.
- Use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar for a natural sweetener option.
