Description

Crispy on the outside and soft inside, these Oats Tikkis are spiced patties made with rolled oats, potatoes, and Indian herbs—perfect for a wholesome snack or light meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Rolled Oats
  • 2 large Boiled Potatoes, mashed
  • 1 small Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 Green Chili, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Paste
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh Coriander Leaves, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add a little oil to warm up.
  2. In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, oats, chopped onion, green chili, ginger paste, coriander leaves, garam masala, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix until it forms a dough-like consistency.
  3. Add about 2 tablespoons of oil to the heated pan and let it warm.
  4. Divide the mixture into equal parts and shape into round, flat patties.
  5. Place the tikkis in the pan and fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  6. Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Serve hot with mint chutney, ketchup, or yogurt.

Notes

  • Lightly roast oats for better texture and flavor.
  • If mixture feels wet, add breadcrumbs or more oats to balance.
  • Oil your hands when shaping the tikkis to avoid sticking.
  • Use medium heat to cook evenly and avoid burning.
