Crispy on the outside and soft inside, these Oats Tikkis are spiced patties made with rolled oats, potatoes, and Indian herbs—perfect for a wholesome snack or light meal.

- 1 cup Rolled Oats
- 2 large Boiled Potatoes, mashed
- 1 small Onion, finely chopped
- 1 Green Chili, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Ginger Paste
- 2 tablespoons Fresh Coriander Leaves, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Garam Masala
- 1/2 teaspoon Red Chili Powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for shallow frying
Instructions
- Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add a little oil to warm up.
- In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, oats, chopped onion, green chili, ginger paste, coriander leaves, garam masala, red chili powder, cumin powder, and salt. Mix until it forms a dough-like consistency.
- Add about 2 tablespoons of oil to the heated pan and let it warm.
- Divide the mixture into equal parts and shape into round, flat patties.
- Place the tikkis in the pan and fry for 3 to 4 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
- Remove and place on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
- Serve hot with mint chutney, ketchup, or yogurt.
Notes
- Lightly roast oats for better texture and flavor.
- If mixture feels wet, add breadcrumbs or more oats to balance.
- Oil your hands when shaping the tikkis to avoid sticking.
- Use medium heat to cook evenly and avoid burning.
