Description

Soft, buttery cookies with a rich Nutella center, these thumbprint cookies are the perfect bite-sized treat for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 and 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 egg yolks
  • 1/3 cup Nutella (for filling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in the egg yolks and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Add the flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  5. Roll dough into 1-tablespoon sized balls and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Gently press a thumbprint or the back of a teaspoon into the center of each ball.
  7. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool completely on a wire rack before filling centers with Nutella using a spoon or piping bag.
  9. Optional: sprinkle tops with sea salt or powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

  • Chill the dough for 15 minutes for easier shaping.
  • Microwave Nutella for 10 seconds for easier filling.
  • Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
