Description

A thin Neapolitan-style pizza with a creamy ricotta stuffed crust, bright tomato sauce, melted mozzarella, and fresh basil. The crust stays airy while the center is cheesy and flavorful, creating a homemade pizza that feels both classic and indulgent.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large ball pizza dough (about 12 ounces)
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup tomato sauce
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 6 to 8 fresh basil leaves
  • 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 475°F and place a pizza stone or baking tray inside so it heats thoroughly.
  2. In a small bowl combine the ricotta cheese with the salt and black pepper and mix until smooth.
  3. Lightly flour a work surface and stretch the pizza dough into a large circle.
  4. Place small spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture around the outer edge of the dough.
  5. Fold the edge of the dough over the ricotta and press gently to seal, forming the stuffed crust.
  6. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the center of the dough, leaving the stuffed edge uncovered.
  7. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and grated parmesan evenly over the sauce.
  8. Transfer the pizza carefully onto the hot stone or tray.
  9. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
  10. Remove from the oven, drizzle lightly with olive oil, and scatter fresh basil leaves on top.
  11. Slice and serve while warm.

Notes

  • Allow the dough to come to room temperature before stretching so it becomes easier to shape.
  • A pizza stone or baking steel helps create a crisp yet airy crust.
  • Do not overfill the crust with ricotta to prevent leaking while baking.
  • Let the pizza rest for about one minute before slicing so the cheese settles slightly.
