Description

Muhammara is a flavorful Middle Eastern dip made from roasted red peppers, walnuts, and a blend of spices, offering a smoky, tangy, and slightly sweet taste. It’s perfect as an appetizer, spread, or accompaniment to grilled meats and vegetables.


Ingredients

  • 2 large red bell peppers, roasted and peeled
  • 1 cup walnuts, toasted
  • 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • Salt to taste
  • Fresh lemon juice (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Roast the red peppers until charred, then place in a covered bowl to steam for 10 minutes. Peel and remove seeds.
  2. In a food processor, combine roasted peppers, toasted walnuts, breadcrumbs, pomegranate molasses, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne, and salt.
  3. Pulse until mixture is coarse but well combined.
  4. Slowly add olive oil and blend until smooth but still textured.
  5. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and lemon juice as needed.
  6. Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle with a bit more olive oil before serving.

Notes

  • Use fresh pomegranate molasses for authentic flavor.
  • Serve with warm pita bread or fresh vegetables.
  • Can be stored refrigerated for up to 5 days.
