Description
Muhammara is a flavorful Middle Eastern dip made from roasted red peppers, walnuts, and a blend of spices, offering a smoky, tangy, and slightly sweet taste. It’s perfect as an appetizer, spread, or accompaniment to grilled meats and vegetables.
Ingredients

- 2 large red bell peppers, roasted and peeled
- 1 cup walnuts, toasted
- 2 tbsp breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp pomegranate molasses
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp ground cumin
- 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Fresh lemon juice (to taste)
Instructions
- Roast the red peppers until charred, then place in a covered bowl to steam for 10 minutes. Peel and remove seeds.
- In a food processor, combine roasted peppers, toasted walnuts, breadcrumbs, pomegranate molasses, garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne, and salt.
- Pulse until mixture is coarse but well combined.
- Slowly add olive oil and blend until smooth but still textured.
- Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and lemon juice as needed.
- Transfer to a serving bowl and drizzle with a bit more olive oil before serving.
Notes
- Use fresh pomegranate molasses for authentic flavor.
- Serve with warm pita bread or fresh vegetables.
- Can be stored refrigerated for up to 5 days.
