Description

Soft, fluffy Mexican Coffee Buns infused with aromatic coffee and topped with a sweet brown sugar glaze, perfect for breakfast or a cozy snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons instant yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 whole eggs
  • ¾ cup warm whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee powder
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar for topping
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Dissolve instant coffee in warm milk, then mix in sugar, butter, eggs, and yeast.
  3. Gradually add flour, salt, and cinnamon, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Shape dough into individual buns and place on the lined baking sheet.
  5. Let buns rise for 30-40 minutes until doubled in size.
  6. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Sprinkle brown sugar on top while buns are still warm.
  8. Let cool slightly, then enjoy warm.

Notes

  • Use warm milk, not hot, to avoid killing the yeast.
  • Allow dough to fully rise for soft, airy buns.
  • Brush with melted butter for extra shine and flavor.
  • Store cooled buns in an airtight container or freeze for longer storage.
