Description

King’s Hawaiian Cheesecake Danish is a deliciously sweet and fluffy pastry made with soft King’s Hawaiian rolls, filled with creamy cheesecake and topped with a buttery glaze. It’s an easy and irresistible treat perfect for brunches, desserts, or special breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package King’s Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls (12-count)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 12 tablespoons milk (for glaze)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted (optional, for brushing rolls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
  2. Keeping the rolls attached, slice the entire slab of King’s Hawaiian rolls horizontally to create a top and bottom layer.
  3. Place the bottom half in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla until smooth and creamy.
  5. Spread the cheesecake mixture evenly over the bottom layer of the rolls.
  6. Place the top half of the rolls over the filling to sandwich it in.
  7. Optional: Brush the tops with melted butter for extra shine and flavor.
  8. Bake for 18–20 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheesecake is set.
  9. While baking, prepare the glaze by whisking powdered sugar with 1–2 tablespoons of milk until smooth.
  10. Drizzle the glaze over the warm danish before serving. Let cool slightly, then cut and serve.

Notes

  • Use flavored cream cheese (like strawberry or cinnamon) for a twist.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate overnight, then bake fresh in the morning.
  • Top with fruit preserves or pie filling before adding the top layer for a fruity variation.
