Description

Crispy chicken tenders tossed in a sticky hot honey garlic glaze that balances sweet, spicy, and savory in every crunchy bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders, trimmed
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, whisked
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 3 to 4 cups vegetable oil, for frying
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • Fresh parsley or sesame seeds, optional garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Heat vegetable oil in a heavy skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F. Set a wire rack over a sheet pan.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl whisk flour, cornstarch, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. In a separate bowl whisk eggs with milk.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Position the wire rack near the stove for draining and keep tongs ready.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Dredge chicken in the flour mixture, dip into the egg wash, then coat again in the flour mixture, pressing to adhere.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Fry in batches 6 to 8 minutes until golden and the chicken reaches 165°F. Drain on the rack.
  6. Finishing Touches: In a small saucepan simmer honey, garlic, red pepper flakes, vinegar, and soy sauce 2 to 3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Toss hot tenders with the glaze, garnish if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crunch use a second double-dip by returning coated chicken to the egg and flour once more.
  • Do not overcrowd the pot, keep oil near 350°F for even browning.
  • Warm the glaze right before tossing so it coats evenly.
  • Reheat leftovers on a rack at 375°F until crisp.
