Description

Juicy sausages baked in a glossy honey mustard sauce with tender onions, this easy dinner is sweet, tangy, savory, and perfect for a cozy weeknight meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 pork or chicken sausages, about 1.5 pounds
  • 1/3 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and lightly grease a medium baking dish.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly browned on most sides.
  4. Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
  5. Transfer the sausages and onion mixture to the prepared baking dish. Pour the honey mustard sauce over the top and turn gently to coat.
  6. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, turning the sausages once halfway through, until cooked through and the sauce is bubbling and slightly thickened.
  7. Spoon the sauce over the sausages, sprinkle with chopped parsley if using, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Brown the sausages first for deeper flavor and better color.
  • Use both Dijon and whole grain mustard for a balanced texture and tangy flavor.
  • Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
