Description
Juicy sausages baked in a glossy honey mustard sauce with tender onions, this easy dinner is sweet, tangy, savory, and perfect for a cozy weeknight meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 pork or chicken sausages, about 1.5 pounds
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon whole grain mustard
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F and lightly grease a medium baking dish.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the honey, Dijon mustard, whole grain mustard, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, and black pepper until smooth.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sausages and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, turning occasionally, until lightly browned on most sides.
- Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook for 3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds more.
- Transfer the sausages and onion mixture to the prepared baking dish. Pour the honey mustard sauce over the top and turn gently to coat.
- Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, turning the sausages once halfway through, until cooked through and the sauce is bubbling and slightly thickened.
- Spoon the sauce over the sausages, sprinkle with chopped parsley if using, and let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Brown the sausages first for deeper flavor and better color.
- Use both Dijon and whole grain mustard for a balanced texture and tangy flavor.
- Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or crusty bread to soak up the sauce.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
