Description
Tender pear slices caramelized in a warm honey maple glaze with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. This cozy fruit dish is quick, glossy, and perfect for serving over pancakes, yogurt, oatmeal, or ice cream.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 medium pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 3 tablespoons maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Place a large skillet over medium heat and let it warm up.
- Add the butter, honey, maple syrup, and brown sugar to the skillet. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture becomes smooth and lightly bubbly.
- Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a gentle simmer.
- Add the sliced pears and toss carefully so each slice is coated in the glaze.
- Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears are tender and the glaze thickens.
- Stir in the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt. Cook for 1 more minute to blend the flavors.
- Serve warm, spooning the caramel sauce over the pears.
Notes
- Use ripe but firm pears so they hold their shape while cooking.
- Bosc or Anjou pears work especially well for this recipe.
- If the glaze becomes too thick, stir in 1 tablespoon of water.
- Serve warm over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently on the stove.
