Description

Tender pear slices caramelized in a warm honey maple glaze with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, vanilla, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. This cozy fruit dish is quick, glossy, and perfect for serving over pancakes, yogurt, oatmeal, or ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium pears, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Place a large skillet over medium heat and let it warm up.
  2. Add the butter, honey, maple syrup, and brown sugar to the skillet. Stir until the butter melts and the mixture becomes smooth and lightly bubbly.
  3. Reduce the heat slightly to maintain a gentle simmer.
  4. Add the sliced pears and toss carefully so each slice is coated in the glaze.
  5. Cook for 10 to 12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pears are tender and the glaze thickens.
  6. Stir in the ground cinnamon, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and salt. Cook for 1 more minute to blend the flavors.
  7. Serve warm, spooning the caramel sauce over the pears.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm pears so they hold their shape while cooking.
  • Bosc or Anjou pears work especially well for this recipe.
  • If the glaze becomes too thick, stir in 1 tablespoon of water.
  • Serve warm over pancakes, waffles, oatmeal, yogurt, or ice cream.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat gently on the stove.
