Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In a large bowl, cream the butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully combined.
- Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
- Cut the dough into heart shapes and place them on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 8–10 minutes, until the edges are just set.
- Allow the cookies to cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a bowl, mix powdered sugar with milk and food coloring until smooth, then ice the cookies and decorate with sprinkles.

- Chilling the dough for 20 minutes helps the cookies keep their shape.
