Description

Hawaiian Teriyaki Burgers are juicy beef patties glazed with sweet and savory teriyaki sauce, topped with grilled pineapple, melted cheese, and fresh veggies—all stacked on a toasted bun. This tropical twist on a classic burger is perfect for summer grilling and backyard BBQs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 4 pineapple rings (fresh or canned)
  • 4 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns, toasted
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise (optional)
  • ½ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Green leaf lettuce, for topping
  • For the teriyaki glaze:
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, pineapple juice, and rice vinegar. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Stir in cornstarch slurry and cook for 1–2 minutes until thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Preheat grill or skillet to medium-high heat. In a bowl, mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Form into 4 burger patties.
  3. Grill burgers for about 4–5 minutes per side or until cooked to desired doneness. Brush with teriyaki glaze during the last minute of cooking. Top with cheese slices to melt.
  4. Grill pineapple rings for 1–2 minutes per side until lightly caramelized.
  5. Assemble burgers: Spread mayonnaise on the bottom buns (if using), then layer with lettuce, the teriyaki-glazed patty, grilled pineapple, red onion, and the top bun.
  6. Serve hot with extra teriyaki sauce on the side if desired.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate patties in some teriyaki sauce before grilling.
  • Use brioche or Hawaiian buns for a sweet, soft touch.
  • You can substitute beef with ground chicken or turkey if preferred.
