  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for serving

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the unbaked pie crust into a 9-inch pie plate. Set aside.
  3. In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Remove from heat and stir in sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Whisk in cocoa powder, flour, and salt until fully combined.
