- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 3/4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 1/2 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Fresh cracked black pepper, to taste
- 10 tbsp salted butter, cold and cut into small pieces
- 3 tbsp fresh parsley, finely minced
- 1 1/4 cups buttermilk, shaken before measuring
- For the garlic butter topping:
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp parsley, heaped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the fresh parsley.
- Pour in the buttermilk and mix until just combined—do not overmix.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them slightly apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown on top.
- While baking, prepare the garlic butter topping: melt butter in a small pan, add minced garlic, and cook gently for 1-2 minutes. Stir in parsley.
- Brush the hot biscuits generously with the garlic butter topping before serving.
Notes
- Use very cold butter for the fluffiest biscuits.
- Do not overmix the dough; a rough texture makes the biscuits tender.
- For extra flavor, sprinkle with Parmesan or cheddar before baking.
- Best enjoyed warm, straight out of the oven.
