Description
This Five Guys Burger Copycat recipe delivers all the juicy, cheesy, double-patty goodness of the iconic burger chain. With crispy-edged beef patties, melty American cheese, and customizable toppings, it’s a fast food classic made at home.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 slices American cheese
- 2 hamburger buns (preferably sesame seed)
- 1 tbsp butter (for toasting buns)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings:
- – Pickles
- – Tomato slices
- – Shredded lettuce
- – Grilled onions and mushrooms
- – Ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise
Instructions
- Divide ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape into thin patties (about 1/4 inch thick). Season both sides with salt and pepper.
- Heat a cast iron skillet or griddle over medium-high heat until hot. Do not add oil.
- Place patties in the skillet and press down lightly. Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until crispy on the edges and cooked through.
- Place a slice of cheese on top of two patties while still hot to melt.
- Meanwhile, butter the cut sides of the buns and toast them in a skillet or on the griddle until golden brown.
- Assemble each burger by stacking a cheesy patty over a plain patty. Add toppings of choice and place on toasted buns.
- Serve immediately with fries or chips on the side.
Notes
- Use freshly ground beef for the juiciest patties.
- Smash-style patties work best for crispy edges.
- Five Guys burgers are known for free toppings—mix and match your favorites.
