Description

An Easy Tuna Melt is a simple yet satisfying meal, featuring a creamy tuna salad topped with melted cheese and grilled to perfection on toasted bread. It’s the perfect quick lunch or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (5 oz) tuna in water, drained
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon relish or chopped pickles
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 slices of bread (white, whole wheat, or your choice)
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your preferred cheese)
  • Butter for toasting

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the tuna, mayonnaise, mustard, relish, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Spread the tuna mixture evenly over two slices of bread.
  3. Top each with a slice of cheese, then place the other slice of bread on top to form sandwiches.
  4. Heat a skillet over medium heat and butter the outside of each sandwich.
  5. Place the sandwiches in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted.
  6. Remove from the skillet, slice, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For added flavor, you can sprinkle some onion powder or garlic powder into the tuna mixture.
  • Try using different cheeses like Swiss or provolone for a variation.
  • For a healthier option, you can use whole grain bread or a low-fat mayo substitute.
