Description
Easy Creamy Sage Chicken is a comforting and elegant dish made with pan-seared chicken breasts in a rich, creamy garlic and sage sauce. Perfect for a weeknight dinner or a cozy weekend meal, this recipe combines earthy herbs with a luscious texture.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped (or 1 teaspoon dried)
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 3/4 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Optional: extra sage leaves for garnish
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts on both sides with salt and pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Sear chicken for 5–6 minutes per side until golden and cooked through. Transfer to a plate and set aside.
- Lower heat to medium and add butter to the skillet. Sauté garlic and sage for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan. Let simmer for 2 minutes.
- Stir in heavy cream and Parmesan cheese. Simmer gently for 3–4 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Return chicken to the skillet and spoon sauce over it. Cook for another 2–3 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with extra sage leaves if desired, and serve hot with mashed potatoes, pasta, or vegetables.
Notes
- Use skin-on, bone-in chicken thighs for more flavor if preferred.
- Fresh sage gives the best flavor, but dried works in a pinch.
- For a lighter option, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream.
