Description

Tender slices of beef, crisp broccoli, and a rich garlicky sauce come together in this quick and flavorful stir-fry classic. Perfect for busy weeknights and better than takeout.

Ingredients

  • Flank Steak: 1 pound, thinly sliced against the grain
  • Broccoli Florets: 4 cups
  • Soy Sauce: 1/3 cup
  • Brown Sugar: 2 tablespoons
  • Garlic: 4 cloves, minced
  • Ginger: 1 tablespoon, minced
  • Cornstarch: 2 tablespoons
  • Beef Broth: 1/2 cup
  • Sesame Oil: 1 teaspoon
  • Vegetable Oil: 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Preheat Your Equipment: Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat until hot and shimmering.
  2. Combine Ingredients: In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, beef broth, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Set aside.
  3. Prepare Your Cooking Vessel: Add 1 tablespoon oil to the skillet. Sauté broccoli for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove and set aside.
  4. Assemble the Dish: Add remaining oil and stir-fry beef in batches until browned.
  5. Cook to Perfection: Return broccoli, pour in sauce, and stir well. Cook for 2–3 minutes until thickened.
  6. Finishing Touches: Toss everything until coated and glossy.
  7. Serve and Enjoy: Serve hot over rice or noodles, topped with sesame seeds if desired.

Notes

  • Slice beef thinly against the grain for tenderness.
  • Don’t overcook the broccoli to keep it vibrant and crisp.
