Description

Tender, juicy chicken breasts cooked in a creamy Dijon mustard sauce with garlic, white wine, and thyme for a flavorful weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, approximately 5-6 oz each
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup dry white wine
  • 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream or evaporated milk
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme leaves or 1 sprig fresh thyme

Instructions

  1. Season chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and cook 5-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
  4. Pour in dry white wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  5. Add heavy cream (or evaporated milk), chicken broth, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and thyme. Stir to combine and simmer for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Return chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
  7. Serve chicken breasts drizzled with the creamy Dijon sauce, alongside your favorite sides.

Notes

  • Use a thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
  • Substitute evaporated milk for a lighter option without sacrificing creaminess.
  • Add fresh parsley or thyme for garnish.
  • Pair with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
