Description
Tender, juicy chicken breasts cooked in a creamy Dijon mustard sauce with garlic, white wine, and thyme for a flavorful weeknight dinner.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, approximately 5-6 oz each
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup dry white wine
- 1/3 cup heavy whipping cream or evaporated milk
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1/8 teaspoon dried thyme leaves or 1 sprig fresh thyme
Instructions
- Season chicken breasts with salt and black pepper on both sides.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken breasts and cook 5-6 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through. Remove chicken from skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in dry white wine and simmer for 2-3 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
- Add heavy cream (or evaporated milk), chicken broth, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, and thyme. Stir to combine and simmer for 3-4 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
- Return chicken breasts to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Serve chicken breasts drizzled with the creamy Dijon sauce, alongside your favorite sides.
Notes
- Use a thermometer to ensure chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) for safety.
- Substitute evaporated milk for a lighter option without sacrificing creaminess.
- Add fresh parsley or thyme for garnish.
- Pair with rice, mashed potatoes, or roasted vegetables for a complete meal.
