Description
Flaky croissants filled with juicy smash-style beef patties, melted cheddar, and sweet caramelized onions for a rich and unforgettable burger twist.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
- 4 large croissants
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 large onion, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium high heat until very hot.
- Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then divide into four loose balls.
- Add oil to the skillet and cook the onions on low heat until soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
- Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash each into a thin patty. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the edges crisp.
- Flip the patties, top each with a slice of cheese, and cook another 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
- Slice the croissants and toast them in butter until golden.
- Assemble each burger by layering a cheesy patty and caramelized onions inside the toasted croissant, then serve warm.
Notes
- Chill croissants briefly before slicing for cleaner cuts.
- Do not rush caramelizing the onions for the best flavor.
- Let the burgers rest briefly before eating to retain juices.
