Description

Flaky croissants filled with juicy smash-style beef patties, melted cheddar, and sweet caramelized onions for a rich and unforgettable burger twist.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 large croissants
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil

Instructions

  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium high heat until very hot.
  2. Season the ground beef with salt, pepper, and garlic powder, then divide into four loose balls.
  3. Add oil to the skillet and cook the onions on low heat until soft and caramelized, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Place the beef balls onto the hot skillet and smash each into a thin patty. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the edges crisp.
  5. Flip the patties, top each with a slice of cheese, and cook another 1 to 2 minutes until the cheese melts.
  6. Slice the croissants and toast them in butter until golden.
  7. Assemble each burger by layering a cheesy patty and caramelized onions inside the toasted croissant, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Chill croissants briefly before slicing for cleaner cuts.
  • Do not rush caramelizing the onions for the best flavor.
  • Let the burgers rest briefly before eating to retain juices.
