Description

Crispy Gochujang Cauliflower Wings are a bold and flavorful plant-based snack or appetizer. These cauliflower florets are baked or air-fried until perfectly crispy, then tossed in a spicy, sweet, and sticky gochujang sauce that packs a delicious Korean-inspired punch.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 medium head of cauliflower, cut into florets
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup plant-based milk (or regular milk)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional for extra crispiness)
  • 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup or honey
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) or air fryer to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly oil the air fryer basket.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until smooth.
  3. Dip each cauliflower floret into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat with panko breadcrumbs. Place on prepared baking sheet or air fryer basket.
  4. Bake for 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, or air fry for 15–20 minutes until golden and crispy.
  5. Meanwhile, in a small saucepan over low heat, whisk together gochujang, soy sauce, rice vinegar, maple syrup, sesame oil, and minced garlic. Simmer for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Transfer crispy cauliflower to a large bowl and toss with the warm gochujang sauce until well coated.
  7. Serve immediately, garnished with sesame seeds or chopped green onions if desired.

Notes

  • For extra crunch, broil the wings for 2–3 minutes after tossing in sauce.
  • Adjust gochujang and maple syrup amounts to balance heat and sweetness.
  • Great as an appetizer, game-day snack, or meatless meal.
