Description
A rich and savory dish with tender chicken breasts in a creamy Dijon mustard sauce, offering a perfect balance of tangy and creamy flavors.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/2 cup Dijon mustard
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chicken broth
- 1 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- 1 tbsp butter (optional, for extra richness)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper, then cook for 5-7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium. Add minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Stir in Dijon mustard, heavy cream, chicken broth, and honey. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
- If desired, add butter for extra richness and stir until melted and smooth.
- Return the chicken to the skillet and coat it with the creamy sauce. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes to heat through and allow the flavors to meld.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve the chicken with your choice of sides, such as mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables.
Notes
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or some hot sauce to the sauce.
- For a lighter version, you can substitute the heavy cream with a lighter cream or half-and-half.
- This dish pairs well with roasted potatoes or a green vegetable like asparagus or spinach.
