Description

Chocolate Hazelnut Delight Cake is a rich and indulgent dessert featuring moist chocolate cake layers, creamy chocolate hazelnut frosting, and crunchy toasted hazelnuts. Perfect for special occasions or whenever you need a decadent treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup chocolate hazelnut spread (like Nutella)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream (as needed for frosting consistency)
  • 1 cup toasted chopped hazelnuts (for garnish and between layers)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans or line with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Mix until combined. Stir in boiling water slowly (batter will be thin).
  4. Divide batter evenly between the two prepared pans. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool cakes in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  6. Meanwhile, make the frosting: beat chocolate hazelnut spread and softened butter until smooth and fluffy. Gradually beat in powdered sugar and cream until desired consistency is reached.
  7. Once cakes are cool, spread frosting over one layer, sprinkle with chopped hazelnuts, then top with the second layer. Frost the top and sides of the cake.
  8. Garnish with remaining chopped hazelnuts. Chill for 30 minutes before slicing for clean cuts.

Notes

  • For deeper flavor, add a teaspoon of instant coffee granules to the cake batter.
  • You can make the cake layers a day ahead and assemble the next day.
  • This cake pairs beautifully with espresso or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
