Description

Chocolate Brownie Mousse Trifle is a decadent layered dessert made with fudgy brownie chunks, rich chocolate mousse, and whipped cream, all stacked in a trifle dish or individual cups. It’s an indulgent treat that’s perfect for parties, holidays, or any chocolate lover’s craving.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch brownies (homemade or boxed, baked and cooled)
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1 cup heavy cream (for mousse)
  • Optional toppings: chocolate shavings, crushed Oreos, berries, or more brownie crumbs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the brownies according to your favorite recipe or box instructions. Let cool completely and cut into small cubes.
  2. To make the chocolate mousse: heat 1 cup heavy cream in a saucepan until just steaming. Pour over chocolate chips in a bowl and let sit 2 minutes. Stir until smooth and let cool slightly.
  3. In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form. Fold whipped cream gently into cooled chocolate mixture until combined. Chill mousse for at least 30 minutes.
  4. In another bowl, whip remaining 1 cup heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla until stiff peaks form to make the whipped cream topping.
  5. To assemble the trifle: Layer brownie chunks in the bottom of a trifle dish or dessert cups, followed by a layer of chocolate mousse, then a layer of whipped cream. Repeat layers as desired.
  6. Top with additional whipped cream and garnish with chocolate shavings or other toppings.
  7. Chill until ready to serve. Best enjoyed within 1–2 days.

Notes

  • You can use store-bought brownies or mousse to save time.
  • Add raspberries or strawberries between layers for a fruity twist.
  • Make in mini dessert glasses for individual servings.
