Description
Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish made with tender slices of chicken breast, crisp cabbage, and carrots tossed in a savory garlic-ginger soy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or light meals packed with texture and umami.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish
Instructions
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
- Add chicken slices, season lightly with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add cabbage and carrots. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until just tender but still crisp.
- Return chicken to the pan. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir to combine well.
- If desired, pour in the cornstarch slurry to slightly thicken the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
- Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice or noodles.
Notes
- Swap cabbage with bok choy or napa cabbage for variation.
- Use pre-cut stir-fry veggie mix to save time.
- For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.
