Description

Chinese Chicken Cabbage Stir-Fry is a quick, healthy, and flavorful dish made with tender slices of chicken breast, crisp cabbage, and carrots tossed in a savory garlic-ginger soy sauce. Perfect for busy weeknights or light meals packed with texture and umami.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinly sliced
  • 4 cups green cabbage, shredded
  • 1 cup carrots, julienned
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (optional, for thickening)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Green onions and sesame seeds, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chicken slices, season lightly with salt and pepper, and stir-fry until golden and cooked through. Remove and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, add garlic and ginger. Stir-fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add cabbage and carrots. Stir-fry for 3–5 minutes until just tender but still crisp.
  5. Return chicken to the pan. Add soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sesame oil. Stir to combine well.
  6. If desired, pour in the cornstarch slurry to slightly thicken the sauce. Cook for another 1–2 minutes.
  7. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds. Serve hot with rice or noodles.

Notes

  • Swap cabbage with bok choy or napa cabbage for variation.
  • Use pre-cut stir-fry veggie mix to save time.
  • For a low-carb option, serve over cauliflower rice.
