Description

Fresh, crisp lettuce leaves filled with savory minced chicken, crunchy vegetables, and a rich Asian-inspired sauce. These wraps are quick to prepare, light yet satisfying, and perfect for weeknight dinners or entertaining.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground chicken
  • 16 large butter lettuce leaves
  • 1/2 cup finely diced carrots
  • 3 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1/2 cup chopped water chestnuts
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat.
  2. In a small bowl combine soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and the cornstarch slurry.
  3. Add a small drizzle of oil to the skillet then cook garlic and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add ground chicken and cook while breaking it apart with a spoon until mostly cooked.
  5. Stir in diced carrots and chopped water chestnuts and cook for 2 to 3 minutes.
  6. Pour the sauce mixture into the skillet and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  7. Stir in chopped green onions.
  8. Spoon the warm filling into the butter lettuce leaves.
  9. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

  • Pat the lettuce leaves dry before serving so the wraps stay crisp.
  • Finely chop the vegetables so the filling stays compact inside the lettuce cups.
  • The filling can be made ahead and reheated gently before serving.
  • Add chili sauce if you prefer a spicy kick.
