Description
Chicken Cordon Bleu is a golden, crispy rolled chicken dish stuffed with savory ham and melty Swiss cheese. It’s the perfect balance of crunch, creaminess, and comfort, ideal for a cozy dinner or a special gathering.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 chicken cutlets, pounded thin
- 4 slices ham
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (preferably panko)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F or heat skillet over medium heat if pan-frying.
- Set up three shallow dishes: one for flour, one for beaten eggs, and one for breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
- Lay each chicken cutlet flat, spread with Dijon mustard, top with ham and cheese, then roll tightly and secure with toothpicks.
- Coat each roll in flour, then dip in egg, and finally cover with breadcrumbs.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes or pan-fry in butter until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Remove toothpicks and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
- Serve hot with your favorite sides.
Notes
- Chill the rolls before breading for easier handling.
- Use panko for an extra crispy crust.
- Let rest after cooking to avoid cheese leaking out.
