Description
Creamy shredded chicken coated in rich homemade Alfredo sauce, piled high on toasted buns and topped with melted mozzarella. A comforting twist on two classics that is quick, satisfying, and perfect for busy weeknights.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound boneless skinless chicken breasts, cooked and shredded
- 4 hamburger buns, lightly toasted
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F and lightly toast the hamburger buns on a baking sheet for about 5 minutes until just golden.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens, then add the shredded chicken and coat thoroughly.
- Let the mixture simmer for 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through and creamy.
- Spoon the creamy chicken mixture onto the toasted buns. Top each sandwich with shredded mozzarella cheese and return to the oven for 3 to 5 minutes until melted.
- Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.
Notes
- Keep the sauce at a gentle simmer to prevent the cream from separating.
- Freshly grated Parmesan melts smoother and gives better flavor.
- If reheating, add a splash of chicken broth to loosen the sauce.
