Description

Cheesy Puff Pastry Hot Dog Boats are a fun and indulgent twist on classic hot dogs. Wrapped in flaky puff pastry and stuffed with gooey Muenster cheese, they can be topped with chili, onions, mustard, or your favorite toppings for a homemade Coney Island-style treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cheese-stuffed hot dogs (or unstuffed hot dogs)
  • 8 slices Muenster cheese
  • 4 rectangle sheets of puff pastry dough, about 2 inches longer than hot dogs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Toppings of your choice (e.g., chili, onions, yellow mustard)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a baking sheet with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Place each hot dog on a puff pastry rectangle. Top with 2 slices of Muenster cheese.
  3. Roll the puff pastry around the hot dog, sealing the edges. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
  4. Brush the tops of the pastry with beaten egg for a golden finish.
  5. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the puff pastry is golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly.
  7. Add your favorite toppings, such as chili, onions, and mustard, before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle sesame seeds or poppy seeds on top before baking.
  • Cheese can be swapped with cheddar, pepper jack, or any preferred melting cheese.
  • These boats are best served fresh and warm for maximum flakiness.
  • Can be made ahead and baked just before serving; store wrapped in plastic in the fridge.
