Description

Cheesy Bolognese Gnocchi Bake is a comforting Italian-inspired casserole combining pillowy gnocchi with rich, savory Bolognese sauce and a golden, bubbly cheese topping. It’s an easy, hearty meal perfect for family dinners or cozy nights in.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb potato gnocchi
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 lb ground beef or pork
  • 1 cup marinara or tomato sauce
  • 1/4 cup red wine (optional)
  • 1/2 tsp dried oregano
  • 1/2 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook gnocchi according to package instructions, drain and set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Sauté onion and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add ground beef, cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  5. Pour in marinara sauce and red wine (if using). Stir in oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10 minutes.
  6. Combine cooked gnocchi and Bolognese sauce, then transfer to prepared baking dish.
  7. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan evenly over the top.
  8. Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. Garnish with fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

  • For a vegetarian version, substitute meat with cooked lentils or mushrooms.
  • Add crushed red pepper flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Leftovers reheat well in the oven or microwave.
