Description

This cheesy beer bread is a no-yeast, quick bread recipe packed with sharp cheddar and savory herbs. Perfect for pairing with soups, stews, or enjoying on its own, this loaf is tender inside with a crisp, buttery crust.


Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 12 ounces room temperature beer
  • ¼ cup melted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5 loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and thyme. Fold in the shredded cheese.
  3. Pour in the beer and gently stir until just combined. The batter will be thick and lumpy.
  4. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Brush the top with melted butter immediately after baking.
  7. Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before slicing.
