Description
This cheesy beer bread is a no-yeast, quick bread recipe packed with sharp cheddar and savory herbs. Perfect for pairing with soups, stews, or enjoying on its own, this loaf is tender inside with a crisp, buttery crust.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 ½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 12 ounces room temperature beer
- ¼ cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×5 loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, garlic powder, and thyme. Fold in the shredded cheese.
- Pour in the beer and gently stir until just combined. The batter will be thick and lumpy.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and spread it evenly.
- Bake for 45 to 55 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Brush the top with melted butter immediately after baking.
- Let cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
- Use room temperature beer for best texture and rise.
- Freshly grated cheese melts better and adds more flavor.
- Allow the bread to rest before slicing to avoid crumbling.
