Description

Soft golden donuts filled with a smooth cheesecake center, lightly dusted with powdered sugar for a rich and comforting treat that feels bakery special.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • About 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions

  1. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the milk, melted butter, and eggs, then mix until a soft dough forms.
  4. Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
  5. Cut the dough into round shapes using a cutter or glass.
  6. Fry the donuts in the hot oil for about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
  7. Transfer the donuts to a paper towel lined plate and let them cool slightly.
  8. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
  9. Pipe the cheesecake filling into the center of each slightly cooled donut.
  10. Dust with extra powdered sugar if desired, then serve warm.

Notes

  • Keep the oil temperature steady so the donuts cook evenly and stay fluffy inside.
  • Use room temperature cream cheese for the smoothest filling.
  • Do not overmix the dough or the donuts may turn dense.
  • The filling can be made up to 2 days ahead and refrigerated.
