Description
Soft golden donuts filled with a smooth cheesecake center, lightly dusted with powdered sugar for a rich and comforting treat that feels bakery special.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 cup milk
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- About 3 cups vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions
- Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan to 350°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the milk, melted butter, and eggs, then mix until a soft dough forms.
- Lightly flour a clean surface and roll the dough to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into round shapes using a cutter or glass.
- Fry the donuts in the hot oil for about 2 minutes per side, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Transfer the donuts to a paper towel lined plate and let them cool slightly.
- In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Pipe the cheesecake filling into the center of each slightly cooled donut.
- Dust with extra powdered sugar if desired, then serve warm.
Notes
- Keep the oil temperature steady so the donuts cook evenly and stay fluffy inside.
- Use room temperature cream cheese for the smoothest filling.
- Do not overmix the dough or the donuts may turn dense.
- The filling can be made up to 2 days ahead and refrigerated.
