- 1 (10 oz) bag oyster crackers
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup light corn syrup
- 1/4 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 120°C (250°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Place oyster crackers in a large mixing bowl.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup, and salt. Bring to a boil while stirring constantly.
- Once boiling, stop stirring and let it bubble for 3 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in baking soda and vanilla extract. The mixture will foam slightly.
- Immediately pour caramel mixture over the crackers and stir gently to coat evenly.
- Spread coated crackers in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
- Let cool completely before serving or storing in an airtight container.
Notes
- Add a pinch of cayenne or cinnamon for a flavor twist.
